Eko Atlantic is a marvel of modern engineering and technology, and a testament to the rise of Nigeria on the world stage.This new city has evolved rapidly from a visionary design concept into a technological reality. Infrastructural road works and underground surface drainage pipes are already laid along major routes across the new city. All bridges in Phase 1 & 2 of the project have been completed. And the Great Wall of Lagos sea revetment, which is being built more than two kilometers offshore at eight-and-a-half meters above sea level, has surpassed 6 kilometers in length and is now protecting over 6 million square meters of Eko Atlantic and Victoria Island. Across Eko Atlantic, independent reliable electricity, advanced fibre optic telecoms, and clean water utility services are already installed below street level. With the foundations in place, this magnificent engineering and technological city is now rising.

In late 2012, Nigerian Gossy Ukanwoke launched Beni American University, the West African country's first private online university. The university offers a variety of courses, including corporate diplomacy, global marketing and digital journalism. Ukanwoke, who has also started work to build a physical campus, so far has 10 instructors and about 200 students. The university allows students to access their classes at any time of the day with any internet- enabled device. A 12 week course can cost $100-$300, while the average age of students is 26. "Aviation experts and analysts have said that Nigeria is the fastest growing aviation market in the world after China". At least 12 brand new private jets ordered by Nigerians and some corporate bodies will be delivered to the country this year. This is an offshoot of the projection by private jet manufacturers to deliver 70 brand new private jets to the country within the next five years. The Regional Vice-President, Sales, Middle East, Africa and Turkey, Bombardier Business Aircraft, the Canada-based aircraft manufacturing firm, Mr. Khadar Mattar, who made the disclosure in an exclusive interview with our correspondent, described the private jet market in Nigeria as currently "booming." The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammed Abubakar, has ordered the Lagos State Police Command's Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, to re-open the 13 years old alleged killing of four Igbo youths by policemen attached to Aguda part of Surulere in Lagos State in 2001. Investigation by our correspondent revealed that the Network on Police Reform in Nigeria (NOPRIN) had recently urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar to respond to the request of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, that he provides the Honourable Attorney General of Lagos with the outcome of police investigation into the alleged extra judicial execution of four youths in Lagos in 2001. The four youths are: Anthony Ezenwafor, Chukwuemeka Ezeofor, Izuchukwu Ezeama and Aloysius  Osigwe.
