Dora Akuyili present picture

Image
Dora Akuyili was spotted at the National Conference in Abuja yesterday to contribute her quota to the deliberation of delegates. Here is what she said at the event… "I just need to put on some weight. There is a saying in Igboland that goes this way: "Let the sickness take the flesh but leave the bones because with time the bones would grow new flesh. I just came out of a major sickness, for which I thank Almighty God for delivering me. I know that God did that for a purpose, this National Conference being part of that purpose. I am well now but only need time to put on more weight" Let's keep me in our prayers please, amen!

The cause of Paul Walker's fatal crash revealed

Image
It's been revealed that the cause of Paul Walker's fatal car crash was speed not mechanical problems. The Porsche was travelling approximately 90 mph instead of speed limit sign of 45 mph when it lost control on a suburban street ,crashing into a pole and burst into flames killing Walker and Roger Rodas.. According to a person who has reviewed a report by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and California Highway Patrol... "Investigators calculated that his best friend Rodas was driving between 81 mph and 94 mph when his 2005 Porsche Carrera GT began to drift as it lost control after coming out of a curve. The vehicle had no mechanical failure and the damage that occurred to the vehicle was from the collision," Guess incident where to happen in Naija, I bet there will be no more investigation on this, right?

"I am not sure I want to turn back the hands of time for anything, not even for the gift of sight.I think I have overcome the desire for sight. I know it is a beautiful thing and it is absolutely necessary. Life is interesting and you do not know what it is going to throw at you, and for me, I am grateful for the gift of life. I enjoy my life and I don't think I sit and imagine what my life would be like if I could see. Quite honestly, I want to see for stupid reasons. I want to see because I want to learn how to play golf. I am an optimist by nature and I don't think I walk around saying I want to see. One other reason I would really love to have sight is to see my wife's face but I have the privilege of touching it which is much better than seeing it." On his wife…he...

Image
The husband of one of those who didn't make it alive back home at the just held NIS recruitment exercise in Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City has asked the Government to please provide a job for him to be able to look after the three children the deceased has now left alone in his care. According to Mr Amun, he and his late wife woke up very early that day to be able to get to the venue on time. After they had queued for a while, he became tensed and almost couldn't breathe and asked his wife to let them go home, but she told him to look for a seat outside the stadium and relax while she remains on the queue. While outside the stadium, his wife's brother (who also came for the same exercise) ran into him and asked after his sister, and he told him she was on the queue. Around 4pm, they were asked to come in and write a test and he looked all around for her, but she was nowhere to be found. His younger brother later forced him to go and write the test, ...

Oduah’s Invisible Hands Still In Aviation Sector (II)

By Capt. Daniel Omale I do not intend to join issues with anyone in my column, but it has become necessary in this article to answer Mr Yakubu Dati, a designated manager (public relations) of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and also a spokesperson for the Ministry of Aviation. After his failure to pursue a meaningful political career in his home state of Plateau, he gained respite with a job in FAAN. I sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, appreciate Dati's gross ignorance in the field of aviation. But I understand the nature of his job: to persuade, sensitize, and prop the public to accept mediocrity of government policies, especially in air regulation. Dati lacks both knowledge and ability to rationalize issues in air transportation industry. As delusional as he is, I accept one statement in his last week's article and that is: Oduah's dangerous and unsafe policies will take a while to retract and correct. First, I will educate Yaku...

Image
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has described as "ridiculous and false" allegations by Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Solomon Adeola Olamilekan that N24bn was missing from the Police pension account. Rep. Olamilekan on Thursday while insisting that the N24bn was missing, accused Mrs. Okonjo- Iweala of brandishing fraudulent, forged and fake documents – which cannot stand the test of time – to defend her position that the fund was intact and challenged her to a public debate on the matter. But the minister in a statement issued on Friday night by her Special Adviser Communications, Mr Paul Nwabuikwu, maintained her stand that the money was not missing adding that it is an irony that the federal law maker is attacking her for taking action to ensure that public money was not stolen, but put back into the treasury where it belongs. Boko Haram: 10 Lessons From Biafra

NIGERIANS have continued to be inundated with the ever chilly tales of the deaths of scores of innocent citizens on daily basis in the hands of Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East. The way out of this trouble has obviously become the pre-occupation of many having realized that it is better to think and proffer solutions than fold arms and blame the government in newspaper publications, demonstrations and public statements. The Buni Yadi massacre of FGC students left so much bad taste in the mouth and evoked in me memories of the Nigeria civil war which started when I was barely 10 years old. In those 30 months of my boyhood marred by war which I luckily survived, there are experiences to be shared for the benefit of the children and parents living in the northeastern part of Nigeria now traumatized by Boko Haram. There are also memories that can benefit the military leaders fighting Boko Haram insurgency even when it has come from an ordinary civilian who experi...
